How to choose an oil diffuser

How big is the room?

One of the five high-street machines names a room size: 20 m². Scentech states 65 m² for the Diffuser 2 and 100 m² for the Pro; the rest, nothing.

up to 20 m²up to 65 m²up to 100 m²

Water tank or waterless?

A tank holds 100 to 180 ml of water and a few drops of oil, and wants emptying and drying daily (US EPA). Waterless machines atomise neat oil: no tank, no scale.

water-basedwaterless

Will it run all night?

Stated life per fill runs from 45 minutes to ten weeks. Only Scentech publishes a decibel figure, ± 39.5 dB; for the rest, a bedroom is a gamble.

What does the oil cost?

Price the refill, not the machine. Stoneglow oil is £0.73 a millilitre, Tisserand's £12.00 a bottle; a Scentech pod is £27 for one to three months. Running costs.

Four ways to scent a room

Reeds, candles, a water tank or waterless atomising: they differ in reach, upkeep and the monthly bill.

Before you order

Can Scentech deliver to a UK address?

Scentech ships from the Netherlands and puts no British delivery time or charge on its site. Feeding a UK address into its checkout on 9 September 2026 produced "Shipping not available".

Why are the Scentech prices in euros?

Its shop is priced in euros, with Shopify converting at the till. On 9 September 2026 that meant £27.00 for a scent and £101, £132 and £193 for the machines.

How many scents make the diffuser free?

Three for a mystery scent, five for the Smart Aroma Diffuser, seven for the Diffuser 2, nine for the Pro, and only through the offer page.

Can I use my own oil in a Scentech diffuser?

No. It takes sealed 65 ml ScentPods of blended fragrance oil; Scentech states other oils fall outside the one-year guarantee. The water-tank machines take loose oil.

How long does one pod last?

One to three months, says Scentech: over two months at twelve hours a day on medium. At £27 a pod, roughly £9 to £27 a month.
